biotherapy with leeches and maggots
blood-sucking leeches on a knee
Ursula Kohlberger is about to have her first leech therapy treatment. A few days ago she got a new knee joint. The operation was successful, but a huge hematoma grew inside her knee. The knee is swollen and her mobility is severely compromised. The leeches are intended to suck the clotted liquid out of the tissue and thus speed the healing process. Since the patient is neither anemic nor suffers from liver disease, the leech therapy is completely safe. Allergies are extremely rare.
