Pianist Paul Cibis is known both as a soloist and as an accompanist with regular performances in his native Germany and abroad. He gave solo recitals in Los Angeles and New York City as well as a song recital tour through New Zealand, and appeared in TV & radio broadcasts for the WDR, 3Sat, ORB, HR, RTHK, CCTV and the BBC. Paul has been invited to such festivals as the Feuchtwangen Piano Festival, the Oxford Lieder Festival, the Kurt Weill Fest Dessau and the Jüdische Kulturtage Frankfurt am Main. During the last years he has also been invited several times to the Far East and beyond to perform in Shanghai, Beijing and at Festivals in Hong Kong and Adelaide, Australia. This year’s commitments include further concerts in Hong Kong and Shanghai, and debut performances in Canton, Shenzhen and Macao.

Paul studied piano with Karl-Heinz Kämmerling at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hanover. He then read musicology and philosophy at universities in Berlin and London. In 1998 he started working with Peter Feuchtwanger in London, firstly as a private student and since 2002 as his assistant. He regularly gives workshops and masterclasses for pianists in Taiwan.

As a duo specialist Paul attended the Postgraduate Accompanist Course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, studying with Graham Johnson, Eugene Asti and Robin Bowman. He also participated in masterclasses with Hartmut Höll, Irwin Gage, Sarah Walker, Christa Ludwig, Thomas Hampson und Elisabeth Schwarzkopf. In October 2005 Paul Cibis became a member of staff at Trinity College of Music in London; and he has already been twice to the Academy for Performing Arts in Hong Kong to teach a masterclass on German Lied.
